When I began utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, I initially credited these tools at the end of each page. As time passed and I increasingly used them to enhance virtually all my thinking and writing, I realized that attributing every piece was pointless, given that AI had a varying degree of influence on everything I composed.
Since early 2023, I have used ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools extensively in my thinking and writing process:
– To improve my English expression, grammar, and clarity. I may generate multiple versions of a draft using different tools and combine the best parts from each.
– To expand on ideas and content that I have drafted. The AIs help me refine and develop my initial thoughts.
– To rewrite my rough, bullet-pointed outlines into complete prose while allowing the AIs to enhance and build on the core ideas.
– To draft complete passages or documents based on the direction and topics I provide. This content always requires extensive editing to fit my voice and needs.
– To provide critiques of my writing, which I can incorporate to improve my work.
– Finally, I use Grammarly’s editing suggestions to catch any lingering grammar, punctuation, or verbosity issues.
In short, AI is now an integral part of my writing process at all stages. The line between my original ideas and content and what has been enhanced by AI collaboration is often blurry.
I view these tools as indispensable thinking and writing partners.
