In this Café, I give a short introduction to the Knowledge Café. I then initiate a conversation about the various ways in which it can be used.
Theme: Introduction to the Knowledge Café
Format: Knowledge Café
Delivery: Face-to-face, Zoom or Microsoft Teams
Duration: 120, 90 or 60 minutes
Introduction
This Café is one in a series of Knowledge Cafés on Conversational Leadership that I run face-to-face, on Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Each Café is themed on material from my online blook on Conversational Leadership.
If you are unfamiliar with the Knowledge Café concept, this event is participatory, though I can run it as a webinar.
Theme
The Knowledge Café is a simple process to bring people together to converse about a topic of mutual interest.
I developed the Café some 20 years ago, and it has much in common with the World Café.
A Knowledge Café is designed to help people think and reason together, better understand a topic, make better sense of the issues, and be exposed to different perspectives. It also helps build relationships.
Unlike a conventional presentation and Q&A, participants are actively engaged in thinking and conversing about the topic.
It is almost impossible to participate in a Knowledge Café and not engage.
In our modern world, this type of conversation is rare.
It is the perfect tool for raising global awareness and inspiring people to think differently.
Format
In this Café, I talk about the theme for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the participants and the time available, and then pose the Café question
How might you use the Knowledge Café in your organization or network?
We then go into Café mode.
Reading Material
This post in my blook is optional reading material for the participants before or after the Café.
