Street Epistemology Exploring deeply held beliefs

We all hold deeply rooted personal beliefs, many of which we have never questioned. Street Epistemology is a conversational technique based on the Socratic method, designed to explore our beliefs and our confidence in them.

Street Epistemology is a conversational tool that helps people reflect on the quality of their reasons and the reliability of their methods used to derive their confidence level in their deeply-held beliefs.

If you are religious and feel that Street Epistemology is about trying to persuade you to change your religious beliefs, then take the time to understand it better. It isn’t. The goal of Street Epistemology is not to change your beliefs but to reflect on your beliefs and how they were formed. It is not just about religious beliefs but also any views, as witnessed in the many recorded conversations on YouTube.

Spectrum Street Epistemology

Spectrum Street Epistemology, or Reverse Q&A, is a variation of the Street Epistemology approach, which involves engaging people in conversations to explore the reasons and evidence behind their beliefs. The key difference in Spectrum Street Epistemology is that instead of the person asking questions, the roles are reversed, and the participant is encouraged to ask the questions.
