Theme: What Will Be the Impact of GenAI on Knowledge Management?
This Knowledge Café will discuss the potential effects of GenAI on how organizations manage knowledge. We’ll explore questions like: How might AI transform knowledge sharing? Could GenAI take over specific knowledge management tasks? What new risks and ethical challenges might arise?
Bring your perspectives to discuss the opportunities and concerns related to AI’s potential role in knowledge management.
Format
Sam, Ron, and David will each briefly share their insights on their experiences with Generative AI and its transformative potential for Knowledge Management. Following their talks, they will engage in a brief dialogue to discuss and contrast their different perspectives.
Sam will describe what GenAI tools have been implemented at Oliver Wyman, including those connected to the firm’s knowledge system. This brief intro will include a description of use cases, risk management, and their approach to testing.
Ron will talk about his usage of generative AI this past year as a KM consultant and practitioner and how it has impacted his thinking about knowledge.
David will talk about the use of Generative AI tools as thinking companions to enhance critical thinking skills. He’ll elaborate on how these tools can assist in analyzing articles and videos, enabling us to extract deeper insights and understandings from the content.
Speaker: Ron Young
Ron Young is the founder of Knowledge Associates, an international knowledge and innovation management consulting and solutions company based at St Johns Innovation Centre, Cambridge, U.K. He is acknowledged as a leading international expert and thought leader in strategic knowledge asset management and innovation. He specializes in knowledge-driven results for organizations. He advised and assisted the UK DTI Innovation Unit in 1999 in the production of the UK Government White Paper’ UK Competitiveness in the Knowledge Driven Economy’. He regularly provides keynote presentations and workshops at leading worldwide knowledge management & innovation conferences.
Speaker: Sam Dimond
Sam Dimond is the Global Director of Knowledge Management for Oliver Wyman, based in the London office. He specializes in knowledge management and technologies in professional services firms. He has over 22 years of experience advising on knowledge strategy and designing and implementing knowledge management processes and tools. Sam leads teams of knowledge management professionals and nurtures knowledge-sharing behaviors. Before that, he trained and practiced as a tax lawyer at an international law firm.
Speaker: David Gurteen
David is an independent consultant, writer and speaker in the field of Knowledge Management. He is well known for his Knowledge Cafés that he has run all around the world and that bring people together to have interesting conversations about issues that are meaningful to them. The focus of his work today is an emerging field known as Conversational Leadership – a conversational style of working in response to an increasingly complex world.
